The Tuberculosis (TB) awareness project provides community outreach and education for people who live, work and study in Redbridge.
Our aim is to increase awareness of TB in Redbridge because we want people to recognise symptoms early and access care to prevent TB.
The Covid-19 pandemic interrupted TB services. This means some people haven’t been able to access care and treatment.
Tuberculosis is an airborne bacterial infection spread through inhaling tiny droplets from the coughs or sneezes of an infected person. Anyone can get TB.
TB is not spread through shaking hands, sharing food or drink, or spitting.
Symptoms of TB:
Latent TB is when you have been infected with TB bacteria but do not have any symptoms of active infection.
TB is curable, with a combination of antibiotics over a period of 6-8 months.
Contact your GP or the Redbridge TB Team on 02089708123 if you display symptoms of TB.
